Fall

Paul and Jim are collecting leaves. In Paul's collection of 40 leaves, 4 are oak. In Jim's collection of 36 leaves, 3 are oak. What is the fraction of oak to all other leaves in each pile (please simplify). Whose collection has a greater fraction of oak leaves.

    Paul's collection has the greater fraction.
    4/40, find the most common denominator (4), 4/40 divided by 4/4 = 1/10 if you work out Jim's, his fraction simplifys to 1/12.

  4. Jim has more leaves because if u divide 3/36 by 3 it equals to 1/12 and if u divide 4/40 by 4 which is paul's u get 1/10 so jim has more than paul
